If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland, the terms of our Privacy Shield Privacy Policy will also apply to you and is incorporated herein by reference.

In order to use our website, you authorise Skala to transfer your personal information across national borders and to other countries where Skala and its partners operate. The privacy protections and rights of authorities to access your information in these countries may not be equivalent to those in the jurisdiction where you are located. We will only transfer your personal information to these countries where permitted to do so by law and we will take steps intended to ensure that your personal information continues to receive appropriate protections. If the information that you disclose to us contains the personal information of other individuals, you must be legally permitted to share it with us.

Our goal is to make commerce a better experience at Skala and with this in mind we collect and use information about:

  • • Merchants using Skala
  • • Customers who shop at a Skala powered business
  • • Users of Skala apps and services
  • • Visitors to Skala’s websites or anyone contacting Skala support

This Privacy Policy will help you understand how we collect, use, and share information obtained via the Skala website. This Privacy Policy also applies to information we may collect and process via our social media pages and accounts and when you use certain Skala applications and extensions that connect to your Skala account. If we change our privacy practices, we may update our Privacy Policy.

Our Core Values

We believe in the power of creativity, brand building and trusted partnerships. Trust is a key Skala value and this includes trusting us with your information and privacy.

Your Privacy Is Important To Us

We look carefully at what types of information we need to provide our services, and we try to limit the information we collect to what we really need. When possible we delete or anonymise this information when we no longer require it.

Protecting Your Information

We will only share your personal information with a third party if you give us permission or we are legally required. When we are legally required to share your personal information, we will tell you in advance, unless we are legally forbidden.

Why We Process Your Information

In general we process your information when we need to do so to fulfill a contractual obligation, or where we or someone we work with needs to use your personal information for a reason related to their business (e.g. to provide you with a service). European law calls these reasons “legitimate interests.” These “legitimate interests” include:

  • • Risk and fraud prevention
  • • Answering questions or providing other types of support
  • • Providing and improving our products and services
  • • Providing reporting and analytics
  • • Testing out features or additional services

Your Rights Over Your Information

IIt’s important that you should be able to access and control your personal information no matter where you live. Depending on how you use Skala, you may have the right to request access to, correct, amend, delete, restrict, or object to certain uses of your personal information (e.g. direct marketing). We will not charge you more or provide you with a different level of service if you exercise any of these rights.

If you buy something from a Skala-powered store and want to exercise these rights over information about your purchase, you need to directly contact the business you interacted with. We process on their behalf and cannot decide how to process their information. We can only forward your request to them to allow them to respond. If you send us a request relating to your personal information, we have to make sure that it is you before we can respond. In order to do so, we may ask to see documentation verifying your identity, which we will discard after verification.

As there is no standard understanding about what a "Do Not Track" signal is meant to mean, we don’t respond to those signals in any particular way.

Where do we send your information?

We are a Hungarian company, but we work with and process data about individuals globally. To operate our business, we may send your personal information outside of your country, state or province. This data may be subject to the laws of the countries where we send it. When we send your information across borders, we take steps to protect your information.

We do what we can to protect your information, but sometimes we may be legally required to disclose your personal information (e.g. if we receive a valid court order).

Where Skala transfers your personal information to a country which is not within the EEA and is not subject to an adequacy decision by the EU Commission, we rely on one or more of the following legal mechanisms: EU-U.S. Privacy Shield, Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield, European Commission approved Standard Contractual Clauses, and your consent in certain circumstances.

Protection Of Your Information

We work to protect your information, and to ensure the security and integrity of the Skala platform but no method of transmission over the Internet, and method of electronic storage, can be 100% secure. Because of this we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your personal information.
